Co-Founder & CEO
When Heath Wilson’s wife reacted with shock and excitement when he asked her to take his phone and put it away on date night, he realized that something was out of balance. At that moment, he knew that in spite of his best intentions, he wasn’t prioritizing his role as a husband and father. Instead, his focus and attention was too often directed on the rectangle in his pocket.
In a typical entrepreneurial response, Heath along with his co-founder, Joey Odom, started Aro to help parents address their relationship with their phones. They believe that when you change the relationship with your phone, you change the relationship with everyone around you. To that end, Aro’s mission is create a new generation of intentional families. Since launching in November 2022, Aro has been adopted by thousands of families across the country, helping parents model healthy habits for their kids, be more present with their families, and set their kids up for success with technology.
Heath’s background as an entrepreneur started at age 26 when he co-founded a data and fintech company, eVestment, that was acquired by NASDAQ in 2017. He is a natural risk taker and visionary with his thoughts aligned towards a better future. He has been married to his wife, Mistye, for almost 22 years, and balances life with four children, Maddox (17), Reese (17), Zane (15), Echo (13). Aro is active part of their family, not only in terms of its physical presence, but also because the entire family provides ongoing input into the product. Further, Mistye co-hosts, with Joey, a podcast series called “I wish my husband knew” which is designed to help spark conversation between couples. While a continued work in progress, Heath is proud to say that the relationship with his phone has changed dramatically and his family are the biggest beneficiaries.
