Blind Sided!

I was absolutely stunned when Chris Peltz knocked on my front door, last week. As a subscriber to his YouTube Channel, it didn't take me long to understand that I was the beneficiary of the latest Blind Sided episode for his non-profit organization, Blind Grillin'.
He came bearing gifts; a Big Green Egg, a Flame Boss, a Kick Ash Basket, Fogo charcoal, a plethora of sauces, rubs and accessories, and the cherry on top, an Amazon Echo.
In other words, Blind Grillin' provided everything to take me from zero outside grilling days to what I project to me countless outside grilling days!
Of course, there was meat. After setting up and installing all of the gear, we prepared and smoked baby back ribs as well as potatoes and baked beans. This was tremendously more exciting than the average week night meal I expected to have when I woke up and started getting ready to head to the office, that day!
I want to say a very humbling, gracious and heart-felt thanks to Chris and Michelle Peltz for everything they have done and continue to do for me and countless others. They have truly been a blessing to my family.
This experience took a considerable amount of time and financial resources to bring together. I also want to thank the generous partners and people that donate to support Blind Grillin's mission to provide encouragement, training and tools to the blind and visually impaired individuals; to become independent in the kitchen and on the backyard grill.

One of the lucky ones, John miraculously survived meningococcal disease (bacterial meningitis) as a sophomore in college. John’s body endured considerable trauma that was mostly healed with physical therapy. But, neurological dysfunction and blindness are permanent reminders of his battle with meningitis.

John motivates with a message full of impact that is universally understood. "The filter through which you view your circumstances is most certainly up to you. Whether you wake up in your own bed tomorrow, in a luxury suite at the Ritz-Carlton, or in a hospital, don’t wait to start building your life into the one you want. Waiting is like being at the DMV: your future seems to be in the hands of the apathetic (doctors with poor prognoses, bosses who don’t value you, and your own nagging self-doubt). Don’t wait. Just do the next right thing. Even if you end up taking two steps forward and one step back, that’s still progress. In Texas, we even call it dancing."
