Director of Strategic Partnerships, Billy Parker, stops by to explain how NSITE is a one-stop-shop for blindness employment. A spinoff of the National Industries for the Blind (NIB), NSITE works with employers to identify potential candidates who are blind, visually impaired, and/or veterans. From there, NSITE assists with accessibility needs, onboarding, and training, then prepares both parties for job placement. Their work does not end there; it continues with ongoing support to accommodate changes in accessible technology and employer requirements.

Billy and John also discuss how remote work opportunities have been a game-changing element to today’s workforce and how accessible technology benefits everyone.

Billy Parker

With over 20 years of non-profit and government experience, I have an extensive background in disability employment, program management, training, and recruiting.

Throughout my career, I’ve been recognized for my ability to conceptualize and lead innovative training programs. I’m passionate about addressing disability employment challenges through learning and networking. My communication skills and ability to work with diverse groups of people has helped me thrive in my roles.

Along the way, I’ve identified new training methods and resources and formed partnerships with key government agencies and major companies to drive talent preparedness and awareness.

Key Accomplishments:
*Built a contract management learning program for blind professionals from the ground up
*Trained 600 participants, resulting in 200+ placements at firms such as Boeing and Northrop Grumman
*Developed and implemented Professional Mastery of Office Technology for Employment (ProMOTE), an in-depth training program on assistive technology
*Supervised 49 staff as Department of Labor’s Office of Disability Employment Policy Chief of Staff
*Implemented an initiative with Major League Baseball’s Jim Abbott and ESPN to educate businesses on the value of employing people with disabilities
*Received commendation from Secretary of Labor for Veterans Employment Program
